Hands Off Our Healthcare Campaign

Join the Campaign to Keep Families Covered

In 2016, Louisiana adopted Medicaid Expansion which allowed for many Louisianians to have access to medical care during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Amid the pandemic, states were prohibited from disenrolling residents from March 2020 to May 2023. As of May 2023, the federal government lifted the disenrollment pause allowing states to begin the redetermination process and remove residents from Medicaid. Today, over 400,000 Louisianians lost Medicaid coverage due to this redetermination process. The majority have been disenrolled due to procedural reasons, such as system errors and missing paperwork.

The Louisiana Center for Health Equity (LCHE) is launching the Hands of Our Healthcare Campaign to Keep families covered. This is a call urging the state to pause the Medicaid Unwind process. To join the campaign, click here.
